Happy Memorial Day
Growing up in San Diego which is a military town and having several friends and family members in different branches of the military, I have an enormous amount of respect and appreciation for those that serve our country.
My grandfather was in the Navy for 25 years and my grandmother did her absolute best to raise 6 boys. I don't know how the military wives do it, being away from their loved ones...you women are strong!
Whenever the local news shows troops coming home, it gives me the chills seeing all their happy friends and family waiting for them. It also makes me think of those who's family members didn't make it.
I remember the first time I saw this video...it's I think it's perfectly appropriate for today.
Today we honor all those who served and died, and those who still serve our country & keep us safe.

Lua,this was beautiful. Found your blog on Lady Bloggers Summer BBQ kick-off, you were the person who posted just before me.
I will never be able to listen to this song again without seeing the video clips in my mind. My kids, ages 8 & 12, came to watch over my shoulder and sing along with the song. My youngest said, "Why are they crying?" I said, "Their parent is going off to war." He froze and said, 'OH.' Very serious. "If dad ever joined the war, I'd never let him go," he said.
It's heartbreaking for those who have no choice in that - thank you for the post.
