Cirque du Soleil Zumanity: the sensual side of @Cirque

Seeing Cirque du Soleil live is something I recommend everyone add to their 'bucket list' if it isn't on there already. I'm so grateful to Cirque for providing me the opportunity to see Zumanity live in Las Vegas while I was there attending BlogWorld 2010

I spent the afternoon hanging out with the lovely @CarolSchiller and since my hubby didn't go along with me to BlogWorld I needed a date and she was wonderful enough to join me.

The Zumanity experience is unlink anything you can imagine. As soon as you enter, the mood and ambiance takes over. You have now entered a new world and prepare for the unexpected. The music is performed live by a very talented band and pair of singers, and confetti and flower petals that fall from the ceiling at different points throughout the show making the event truly unforgettable.

The show is interactive and as soon as you're seated you'll meet Dick & Izzy. Zumanity’s resident sex therapists, Dick and Izzy aim to please with their sexy and silly methods engaging the audience in a hilarious round of not-so-innocent repartee. The sexual tension runs high as Dick- a French sex merchant- peddles his wares, while Izzy- his wife!- searches the audience night after night for a boyfriend. It's hilarious and both @CarolSchiller and I were in fits of laughter whilst watching their antics all night. The audience isn't safe either!

The narrator and storyteller of the evening is the lovely Edie. As the sun sets and desires come alive, Edie uses her signature blend of sass and sensuality to guide the audience through the erotic escapades that make up the world of Zumanity. Edie is definitely a great character. She truly carries the show and makes it flow.

Watching Zumanity, my 'date' and I were both flabbergasted by the sheer athleticism these artists display. Not only are they all talented performers, their creative displays are so innovative! The Waterbowl (in picture below) is an amazing 'dance' between two women jumping, twisting and swimming in (and out of) a bowl of water on stage.

Waterbowl

Tssius was another of my favorite acts. The aerial dance told a beautiful story of love and desire, and the performers' small stature made everything so incredible. Rose Boy (below on the right) was a delight to watch (*wink, wink*) both Carol and I could have sworn those abs were painted on! (I should have asked for a close-up view right?)

The finale was a rotating 'orgy' act (below). It was a feast for the eyes no doubt, and displayed all the glorious characters we'd seen all night.

In the middle of the act, two audience members were plucked from their seats and joined the cast on the rotating stage to partake in the fun. It was great to watch and the entire audience was roaring with laughter.

finale 'orgy' scene

Seeing Zumanity was an experience I'll never forget, and look forward to seeing many more live Cirque du Soleil shows as well. All the performers are amazingly talented, and the entire performance experience is exciting!

Have YOU ever seen a Cirque show live? If so, which one? If not, which are you dying to see?

KushyFoot Review #myFABsponsors [giveaway ended]

Congratulations Janie :)

kushyfoot-main

KushyFoot makes a wonderful line of products that will make any shoe you're wearing more comfortable! From socks, tights, foot covers and portable flats KushyFoot has something for everyone.

Having the opportunity to try KushyFoot products first-hand was wonderful, and during my weekend at BlogWorld Expo 2010 I was glad to have them as a Fashion sponsor. My flats-to-go came in handy as I was wearing my boots all weekend, and I know there were many a blogger in heels wishing they had a pair as well!

footless_tightskushyfootlesstights

KushyFoot footless tights are a great alternative to leggings. They're slightly sheer, which gives them more of a 'tights' look rather than opaque leggings. I love the quality of all the KushyFoot products I had the pleasure of trying and these are no exception. Comfortable and wearable definitely describe these tights.

To me these are the epitome of KushyFoot comfort! The KushyFoot lace foot covers are very delicate looking and perfect for either heels or flats. There is a soft cushion on the balls of the feet that makes any shoe that much more comfortable. I’ve worn these lace foot covers with heels, boots and I frequently wear them with flats. The delicate lace is a cute and chic little addition to your ensemble, and it’s actually very well-made. I’ve worn these quite a few times and almost expected a rip or run, but the KushyFoot lace foot covers are still in perfect condition! Definitely a bang for your buck at $10.49(p/pack of 3). *WIN A PAIR!!!! ...keep reading!

 toe_cushionsDSCN0157[1]

Alright…CONFESSION: the shoes above are my FAVORITE flats! I have an unhealthy addiction to flats and these purples ones….well, they’re well-loved. :) Anywho, although it would be nice…I don’t wear my KushyFoot foot covers everyday so I decided to put these KushyFoot Toe Cushions in my flats and it definitely put some pep in my step. The toe cushions are trimmable and adhesive on the bottom to help keep them in place, and fit into any size shoe. They’re another great way to keep your feet happy.

The KushyFoot Flats-to-Go are probably my favorite product in their line. The flats are portable, comfortable and inexpensive. I've browsed the net for similar products, and I the KushyFoot Flats to Go are by far the best buy you will find. They're a great item to toss in your purse when you head out, especially if you're in heels or new shoes that you're not quite yet comfy in. Just un-roll your flats, put them on and now you're not only fashionable and cute but also prepared! ;)

@CharmedValerie Inspired 'Style Pile': A Fashionista's Meditation

First I must say 'Gracias!' to Charmed Valerie for calling me out to do this post. Making a style pile of things I feel are representative of me and my style was a blast!
I was unsure at first, but I think my style pile really is representative of me and who I am.

SOOO...what's in MY style pile?

1. HEELS: These are one of my favorite pairs of shoes. How I got them is a long and ridiculous story involving a hurricane and other madness. They're sexy and chic, which I hope I am too! ;)

2. ZEBRA HAIR BOWS: These are one of my favorite hair accessories! I'm just a kid at heart I suppose and I've always loved wearing bows in my hair.

3. MICKEY MOUSE: This big ol' thing has been with us since my son was about 18 months old. I don't know what possessed my hubby to buy it but at the time we got it, the toy was bigger than our son! They still sleep together & since I used munchkin's bed as my backdrop I left Mickey Mouse in peace. [side note - munchkin's room has the best natural light in the house]

4. SWEATER FROM BRASIL: LOVE this sweater! It's a boat-neck cut so I love to wear it 80's style to one side with a tank top underneath. The fact that it says RIO in sequins makes me feel ever so slightly glam when I wear it even though it's a sweater. LOL

5. FAUX LEATHER CROP JACKET FROM H&M: I just bought this jacket a few weeks ago and I can't get enough of it! :) It's faux-leather ad pretty 'bad-ass' looking if you ask me. I love the cut and it makes me feel put-together when I wear it. If you were at BlogWorld you definitely saw me rockin' it!

6. LBD (LITTLE BLACK DRESS) WITH LACE UPPER: Another AWESOME buy by yours truly. I like to think of myself as a $10 shopper...if it's $10 or under and relatively unique (or something classic) I buy it! This dress was $10 at a little random 'boutique' in our town. I actually saw it a week before buying it and the sales-lady told me it would be $10 the next week so I waited.

7. MAKEUP BRUSHES and NAIL POLISH: Need I say more? I am a makeup addict. If it's makeup, skin care or beauty related COUNT ME IN! Also, being a student, wife and working mama I rarely have the time to have my nails done professionally and AVON's nail polish is my favorite! It stays on at least 2 weeks and I mean with washing dishes, cleaning and all that good stuff!

8. MY VANS. These are a California wardrobe staple. Along with Chuck Taylors, Vans are my favorite sneaker. So comfy, simple and inexpensive. This red pair is my favorite because when I bought them the hubbs told me I was crazy and would never wear those bright red shoes. Boy was he wrong! I have worn this pair out and as you can see, I can't find the other one! Ooops...

9. BOOK and NERD GLASSES: I am a bookworm! I have always loved books. I guess being an only child, I read more than a lot of people I know. I would spend entire weekends in my room reading and have been known to stay up for days at a time upon getting my hands on the latest Harry Potter. The glasses...not mine & not prescription [haha] I just like them.

What would be 3 things in your style-pile?

My #bwe10 Experience

Being a part of BlogWorld New Media Expo as a new blogger was an amazingly inspiring experience. I was able to meet so many wonderful bloggers; some of whose blogs I had been reading before even starting a blog myself! Not to mention the invaluable information passed along in the conference sessions.

To me, BlogWorld Expo truly affirms that Social Media is not a mere ‘fad’ but rather a whole new way of communicating with our world neighbors! I met bloggers, entrepreneurs, social media mavens and connected with wonderfully unique and down-to-earth individuals from all over the world!

The social media community is one of forward thinkers, and in that I find solace. To be in a room full of people who work hard each day to make life work for them is amazing.

IZEA, a company who is to me a great example of fresh new thinking in social media was my ticket sponsor to BlogWorld. (you can see my contest entry and info here.) During the Expo, Ted Murphy the Founder of IZEA was bathed in milk and cereal for charity! It was definitely a great interactive experience that took guts because it was cold in that expo hall. Here’s a glimpse:

Also, while at BlogWorld I won a spot on Blog Talk Radio! I was absolutely thrilled for the opportunity and although thoroughly nervous during the interview, I think I was able to get through it without making a complete fool of myself….you be the judge:

Listen to internet radio with Live at BWE2010 on Blog Talk Radio

Of course this is only the tip of the iceberg! My time at #bwe10 in Las Vegas was rich, new and enjoyable. I can’t wait to share more with you this week!

Why NOT me? IZEA, send me to BlogWorld Expo! -UPDATE

A HUGE Thanks goes out to IZEA for selecting me as one of the lucky few to attend BlogWorld New media Expo 2010! I'm sooooo excited and cannot wait to share my adventure with you all! CLICK HERE to see all the winners announced.

 blogworldincon1813493497_ff965a6ea2

IZEA is partnering with BlogWorld New Media Expo to send 10 bloggers to their conference in Las Vegas this October!

SM111
If I am chosen, this would be my very first blog conference experience ever!

Going to Blog World would be a dream come true!

Over the past year I have become a social media addict! I love that our global community is getting closer and more connected!

I'm a mom, a wife, daughter, blogger and sociocultural anthropology student...I need a weekend in Vegas!

Were I to be selected, I'd sing the praises of IZEA from California, all the way to Nevada and then some! Because I'm such a new blogger, I don't have any other conflicting sponsors, so IZEA...I need a tattoo of your logo or something!

I look forward to the great potential learning experience this conference will be! I hope to learn new things about blogging, branding, make connections with other bloggers, get new ideas and of course...have a little fun!

I'll actively keep my readers and followers posted all weekend long and bring back stories, tips, great blog posts and news!

So, what else can I say?

"Pick Me!"
